Obituary for James Allen Fawley

James Allen Fawley, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 19th in Bremen Community Hospital with his family at his side.

On April 7, 1945, Jim was born in the family home at Nappanee to Doyle and Margarete (Reichert) Fawley. He has been a lifelong resident of Bourbon and a 1963 graduate of Tri-Township (Bourbon) High School. Jim retired from Stockberger Trucking after 38 years as dispatcher and truck driver.  He was a member of The County Church at Bourbon. He loved doing home improvements, building furniture, working on cars, and watching sports. His favorites were Notre Dame football and IU basketball and the Chicago Bears.

From 1965 - 1967 Jim served in the United States Army. One of his most memorable achievements was he was Sgt. Of the  Honor Guard as they marched down Champs-Elysees to ceremony under Arc’ Triumph when US troops left France. He handed the French President an American flag under the Arc and shook hands with President Charles De Gaulle

On December 9, 1967 he married the daughter of Warren and Juanita Byrer, Sally Kay Byer in the Country Church. He was loved dearly by his family who survived his wife Sally Kay, daughter Angela Kay and Dan Williamson of Etna Green along with their children Wes Michael and Rece Allen Williamson; son Gregory Allen Fawley of Granger along with his sister Barbara and Jim Romine of Warsaw. He was preceded in death only by his parents.

The family will welcome friends on Sunday, December 23rd at the Country Church, 2951 E. 9B Rd. from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Aaron Talbert officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, December 24th with a grave side service at 10:00 AM in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

They would like to give special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff at Bremen Community Hospital and to Jim's doctor Michael McClaid.
